Visit of College of Food Science and Technology, Rudrur students to farmer field at Gupanpally village, Nizamabad district and cold storage unit at Ankapur village, Nizamabad district on 26-10-2021

College of Food Science and technology, Rudrur final year students have visited the farmer's field who is producing 105 local varieties of paddy at Gupanpally village. Nizamabad district on 26-10-2021. Students had an exposure to farmer's field and interaction with representatives of local bodies of Nizamabad district About 16 students were accompanied by two faculty, Dr. Salla Sowjanya and Dr. Samreen, Assistant Professors of CFST, Rudrur to Chinni Krishnayya field. Chinni Krishnayya, a local farmer residing at Gupanpally village, Nizamabad district is a progressive farmer with land holding of 11 acres. He is proficient in developing 105 local varieties of paddy with his inherent knowledge on agriculture. He enlightened all the audience about the organic farming procedures and the need for the pesticide free farming. Students were made to analyze the situation upon continuous use of fertilizers that not only led to decrease in fertility of soil but also gradually harmed human health. CFST students displayed their ELP products and explained about food process technology and preservation aspects to the farmers. CFST students were made to visit cold storage unit at Ankapur village, Nizamabad district as part of study tour. At cold storage unit students were explained about the process of functioning of cold storage, its utilities and about refrigeration equipment. The economics of construction of cold storage was also studied.
